Old age is an universal phenomenon. The experiences and problems of old age are different in different societies. The infrastructure for their welfare and empowerment also varies from area to area. Dr. Shuchi Srivastava is presently teaching as a Lecture in the Department of Anthropology, National P.G. College, Lucknow. Earlier she taught Anthropology at Mahila Vidyalaya P.G. College, Lucknow. She obtained her degrees of Master and Ph.D in Anthropology from the University of Lucknow, Lucknow. Dr. Srivastava has conducted her doctoral research on The Problems of the Aged and the Role of the NGOs in Lucknow (2010. Her book, entitled 'Car Nicobar: A Medico-Anthropological Study' was published in the year 2011. She has presented many research papers in different seminars and conferences. She has published research papers in various fields of Anthropology in different international and national journals. The author is a Social Anthropologist and her major area of interest is Social Gerontology and Medical Anthropology.
