Book Description Ane Books, 2014. Softcover. Book Condition: New. 5th or later edition. This book is intended for senior Undergraduate and beginning Post graduate students in the disciplines of Mechanical and Aerospace engineering. Readers will find the arrangement and discussion of the topics to be quite different from the traditional style. A broad range of basic concepts is presented in Chapter 2. This is followed by the derivation of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in Chapter 3. The mathematical nature of the solutions to these equations is discussed in Chapter 4. In this context, the notion of singular perturbation solutions - outer and inner, is introduced. Chapter 5 deals with the inviscid (outer) solutions, while the boundary layer (inner) solutions are derived in Chapter 6. The separation of the boundary layer, its consequences and drag are also discussed in detail. Analytical solutions, both parallel and creeping flow solutions, are presented in Chapter 7. Turbulent flows are discussed in Chapters 8, 9 and 10. The nature of turbulent flows and the importance of the turbulent mean flow are discussed in Chapter 8. Chapters 9 and 10 build on the latter idea in the context of internal and external flows respectively. Contents Preface 1. Introduction 2. Basic Concepts in Incompressible Flows 3. The Incompressible Navier Stokes Equations 4. Solutions to the Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations 5. Potential Flows 6. Laminar Boundary Layer Theory 7. Analytical Solutions to the Incompressible Navier Stokes Equations 8. Tubulent Flows 9. Turbulent Internal Flows 10.Tubulent External Flows Index Printed Pages: 274. Bookseller Inventory # 73628
