About the Author

Adrienne Trier-Bieniek, Ph.D. is currently an assistant professor of sociology at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. Her first book, Sing Us a Song, Piano Woman: Female Fans and the Music of Tori Amos (Scarecrow, 2013) addresses the ways women use music to heal after experiencing trauma. She has been a guest columnist for the Orlando Sentinel and is often called upon to write and speak about the ways music connects with emotion.  She has been published in the journals Qualitative Research and Humanity and Society and is the current editor of Fan Girls and Media: Consuming Culture (Roman and Littlefield 2014) and Feminist Theory and Pop Culture (Sense 2015).  adriennetrier-bieniek.com
