This collection provides one poem a day for one year, which begins on March 11, and ends on March 11. The two consecutive years could be any two years, in the past, present or future. The poems exploring the Natural and the Divine were written in Taipei, the Alaskan wilderness and at a Romanian monastery.

I was born in Eugene, Oregon on March 11, 1944. I grew up in Santa Monica, California with a one year stay in New York City. I did my undergraduate work in Philosophy at Stanford University then took my Master's Degree in Education from UCLA and my Ph.D. in Education from the University of Oregon. I have lived in many parts of the US, including New York, Connecticut, Florida, Oregon, California and Alaska. I have spent eleven winters in Alaska and during the 70's I built my own cabin in lived in the Alaska wilderness for almost three years. I met my wife in Alaska where we had our daughter and in 1998 we moved to Taipei, Taiwan, where we still live. I have done many different kinds of work, including ditch-digging, sewing machine repair, wrangling horses, painting houses and, of course, teaching in many different kinds of educational institutions.
