For quick and easy understanding, the elements of the Chinese Chess game in this book are presented in note form. Each chapter includes some pertinent references to their counterparts in the European Chess game. The translation of the Chinese Chess pieces are also given, as much as possible, in close connection to their counterparts in the European Chess game. In this book, the formation of the Chinese characters on the chess pieces is described by way of only the number of strokes. That is, the dots, dashes, etc., are each referred to as unit strokes for easy aided guidance in connection with the Chinese characters on the chess pieces. (For your information, one stroke constitutes a continuous flow of section writing movement by the pen on part of the full character.) Basically, on each camp, there are only seven different chess pieces to realise in the Chinese Chess game and therefore, the Chinese characters involved are so limited to as such. The pieces are, King, Rook, Knight, Cannon, Minister, Counsellor, and Pawn.
