Sohrab Sepehri (1928-80) was one of Iran's most prominent poets as well as a talented painter. A native of Kashan, Sepehri worked as a civil servant while pursuing his writing and painting. Eventually, he turned to the arts full-time and lived abroad from 1964 until he was diagnosed with leukemia in 1979. He died in Tehran in 1980. Sepehri's poetry is especially noted for its pastoral qualities. A desire for a close relationship with, and admiration for, nature pervades much of his work; at the same time, a sense of wonder when viewing seemingly ordinary scenes especially resonates with readers. This volume, Eight Books, is a collection of all Sepehri's published works.
