In 1985, Anita Shkedi founded Therapeutic Riding in Israel. She has an M.Ed., a postgraduate diploma in Health Visiting, British State Registered Nurse diploma, and Instructor of Therapeutic Riding certificate. Anita Shkedi founded the first diploma course at the Nat Holman School of Coaches, Wingate Institute of Physical Education, Israel. She was the founding director of the Therapeutic Riding Club of Israel, which is now known as Therapeutic Riding Center of Israel. At this time she is a director at the INTRA-Israel National Therapeutic Riding Association, as well as the director of the TR training program at Ariel University as well as a committee member of the Therapeutic Riding Professional Committee. She is currently involved in researching PTSD and ADHD and is pursuing her doctorate at Derby University in the UK. In May 2012, she published her book Traumatic Brain Injury and Therapeutic Riding . Anita has also published several professional articles, the most recent in 2011, The Fear Factor: An Important Issue for Safe Equine Assisted Activities & Therapy (EAA/T) , published in the Federation of Riding for the Disabled Scientific Journal. She served on the committee of the IPEC (International Paralympics Equestrian Committee) from 1996-2001. This committee became a new branch of the Federation Equestrian International, (FEI), in 2006. From 1996-2001 she served as trainer and chef d equipe with the Israel Para Equestrian team. Anita continues to train instructors in therapeutic riding in more than 15 countries. Anita lives and works in Israel with her husband Giora. She spends her spare time enjoying the company of her children, grandchildren and her horse.Review:
