About the Author:
Nació en la ciudad de Guanajuato, en 1928 y murió en Madrid en 1983. Su obra abarca novelas, cuentos, obras de teatro, artículos periodísticos y relatos infantiles. Fue becario del Centro Mexicano de Escritores, de las fundaciones Rockefeller, Fairfield y Guggenheim. Obtuvo, entre otros, los siguientes reconocimientos: el Premio Casa de las Américas en 1964 por su primera novela, Los relámpagos de agosto, y el Premio Internacional de Novela México en 1974 por Estas ruinas que ves.Colaboró en diversas revistas y suplementos culturales de gran importancia en nuestro país.
El reconocido crítico literario Christopher Domínguez afirmó de él: -...hizo de su obra, trágicamente truncada, un corrosivo alegato a favor del humor sarcástico y la ironía antihistérica&-. Ha pasado a la historia como una de las voces más innovadoras de la narrativa hispánica contemporánea.
