Excerpt from the Preface: This is a subjective history of the Guerreros of Ermita. I treated the subject -- not seriously and pompously as some would expect -- but lightly, humorously, even irreverently, without minimizing the accomplishments of the Guerreros. Some of my relatives, I'm positively sure, will be hurt and offended at some of my candid remarks and observations, but one of my childhood characteristics has always been an utter indifference in criticisms, even those coming from m relatives. My relatives are as human and as subject to weaknesses as any other Filipinos, so I do not want them to get the idea that they are superior in any way. I wrote this book to show my countrymen the accomplishments of some of my relatives, dead or living, but do not take everything seriously. I don't. There may be other Filipino families just as accomplished. And why not? - W. Ma. G 1987
