Supply Chain Management: A Concise Guide aims to provide a management overview of the key issues and practical applications to strategic and operational decision making. Using the story of the life cycle of a beaver family as analogy, the book takes us through various aspects of a company s operations, the types of management decisions required in each functional area, ground constraints to be aware of, and the functional trade-offs required to have a holistic view and optimized supply chain. It draws upon case examples in Asia on companies which have successfully adapted their supply chains in an important manufacturing and sourcing location. Asia has a heterogeneous mix of different countries, cross-border requirements, local regulations, and levels of economic development spanning both developed and emerging markets. This book attempts to put in layman terms, various technical terms in SCM, IT and technology, showing how supply chain management can be a source of competitive advantage to enhance customer experience, how technology can be an effective enabler to support integrated business processes and the collaboration efforts between companies.Table of Contents Preface Acknowledgements About the Author Chapter 1-Introduction to Supply Chain Management Chapter 2-Purchasing Chapter 3-Manufacturing Chapter 4-Warehousing and Distribution Chapter 5-Inventory Management Chapter 6-Integrated Supply Chain Perspective Chapter 7-Collaboration Chapter 8-Technology-Based Supply Chains Chapter 9-Putting It Together Appendix Index
