Song Liwen was born in Beijing in 1973. In 1997, he graduated from Capital Normal University with a degree in Chinese Language and Literature. Upon graduation, he specialised in the teaching of Chinese Language in areas such as Chinese linguistics and writing. He is now an editor in the department of Chinese and Linguistics at Peking University Press.
