About the Author

Fiona Kerlogue studied a London University and at Dartington College of Arts in the United Kingdom where she specialised in textiles. After teaching for many years in the UK, she took a post as a university lecturer in Indonesia where she pursued her interest in batik. Upon her return to the UK, she made batik the subject of her doctoral studies at the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Hull, where she was employed for a number of years as a lecturer. She is currently a Keeper at the Horniman Museum in London. She has published and lectured extensively on batik in Europe, Southeast Asia and the United States of America.
