What is empowerment? We all know the famous proverb “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” This is the epitome of empowerment: instilling confidence in people, inciting them to make a change in their community with regards to social issues. This is not simply delivering hand-outs to benefit one or a few in the short term. Instead, empowerment training allows individuals to take initiative in improving their entire community in the long run. The following curriculum is the accumulation of years of work with international charities and social enterprises (such as Free the Children and Me to We), leadership programs in India, and inspiring people such as yourself. It has already been implemented in India, South Africa, and the Philippines. Now is your opportunity to deliver it, too. This is no easy task, but we have utmost confidence in your ability to do it. There is a light burning inside of you already, so use your flame to spark passion in others.
