Loucas Savvides received the B.Sc in Agriculture from the University of Salonica in Greece in 1965, and the M.Sc in Irrigation Engineering from University of California at Davis under a scholarship from F.A.O. (Food and Agriculture Organization) of United Nations.
From 1965 to 1979, he worked for the Ministry of Agriculture of Cyprus as an Agricultural Officer at first, then Irrigation Engineer - Topographer, where he mapped and prepared the "Land Use Map of Cyprus" in 1974.
In 1979, he left to join an Agricultural Development Project in Nigeria for the IBRD (International Bank for Reconstruction Development) under the World Bank for three years.
Since joining F.A.O in 1982 as a Senior Irrigation Engineer, he completed various Irrigation projects in various Gulf countries. Mr. Savvides has also given training lectures at various workshops in different parts of the world. He holds patents on sprinkler and tensiometer designs.Review:
