Description from Introduction: The aim of this book is primarily to give the general reader and non-expert answers to questions that the inquisitive whale watcher may want to know about whales. On these pages the reader will find a considerable sample of the immense stock of information that now exists on the cetaceans most frequently seen in Icelandic waters. Facts about their anatomy, life cycles, food reproduction and other aspects of whale life. One of the features, "Whale Spotting at a Glance", a short description of each whale, is to help the whale watcher, even the inexperienced, to spot and recognize whales seen on a typical trip. Another section gives other and more detailed information on each species. Attention is drawn to the Glossary and Whale Fact File at the end of the book which gives an explanation of non-common words and terms used, in addition to various other aspects concerning cetaceans.
