About the Author:

George Schöpflin is a Hungarian academic and politician and Member of the European Parliament . After graduating from the University of Glasgow and obtaining the Certificate of Advanced European Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges, he worked at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, at the BBC and at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University of London. In March 2010, George Schöpflin was awarded a doctorate honoris causa by Tallinn University
