From the Back Cover

Everyone should have a voice. Having a way to communicate is the most powerful gift that you can give someone. While there are many knowledgeable experts within this field, our particular aim is to provide this information in an approachable, accessible, and relatable way, so that the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is more readily available and accepted by all. With this book, we aim to shine a light on how AAC can help someone truly be and express themselves. Our hope is to empower families, teachers, and service providers to feel better prepared to seamlessly work together for the benefit of the AAC user. It is our intention to close the gap between fields of expertise to impact those who truly need it: the AAC user and their family. In AAC Visualized, we have done this through the power of using visuals to teach essential AAC skills and concepts. In holding true to our book's mission, we have tried to embody this importance of collaboration through consulting with many experts in the creation of this book. To help promote easy ongoing collaboration, we've created a collection of Templates & Tools to highlight everyone's roles and responsibilities. AAC is a team effort! By reading this book, you are already acting as an AAC advocate and supporter. Our goal is to spread AAC knowledge, helping you feel comfortable, confident, and inspired to support your AAC user.
