The Embers of the Silver Age.
Dark times follow the End of the Age of Heroes; ancient Greece is fiercely divided into kingdom states.
A girl child born to the King of Molossia, has a destiny dictated by the Gods. A legacy that reaches back through time to her ancestor, Achilles. She will be the mother of the dawn, the glory that was Greece, which will echo down the ages. She marries the contentious new King of Macedonia, and he names her Olympias of the Gods, when she gives birth to his heir, Alexander.
Olympias.Despised by the noble elite. Adored by the masses. Feared by her enemies. The invincible mother of Alexander the Great. Faithful in her vocation till the day she dies. Ensuring the survival of the Embers of the Silver Age.
In an age when women held no property, wealth, or political opinion, Olympias held ultimate authority over the Hellenic hegemony created by Philip II. She paved the way for her son Alexander to conquer Persia, and establish an empire in the east. Rumours ran rife through the corridors of power, of Olympias’ infidelity, involvement in assassinations, and association with mystical snake cults. None could outwit her, though many tried. Some saw Olympias as divine, some as a sorceress, and some simply loved her.
Set in rugged, awe inspiring Northern Greece, in a land and time where the immortals still hold dominance over the deeds of mere men. The main characters in The Embers of the Silver Age, once lived. They hunted the forests, and deep gorges carved through the landscape, before time began, or rode horses along fast flowing rivers, fed by mountain snow. Their victories and failures are well documented. Their lives and loves, their births and deaths, emotions, strengths and weaknesses, less so. Of them all, one woman stands out as the strongest. Olympias.
