Synopsis

"Cinematic and vividly written, the book should easily find an audience looking for a middle grade adventure with a slice of the macabre." -The Independent Review of Books

Deadly hippos. Killer pirates. Murderous mansions. This is no child’s play.

When twelve-year-old Izzy and her family move to creepy Glenbat Manor so that her “genius” twin brother Noah can attend the chichi St. Alberts School for the Gifted, her world is turned upside down.

The kid next door, Walter, explains that their new home is called the “Terror Shack” by the locals—and for good reason. Its previous occupants vanished more than one hundred years ago.

When Noah uncovers a dusty old board game in the cobwebby basement, the three tweens decide to give it a whirl. Little did they know it just might be the last thing they ever do.

With each roll of the dice, the kids are plunged into a dark spiral to an unknown mysterious place where they are given riddles with grave tasks they must complete so that they can be freed from the game and go back to their lives, back to their families, back to Glenbat Manor.

This is no fun and games. Can the kids win before it's too late and they are stuck in the board game forever?

About the Author

LG Cunningham loves to write scary, spine-chilling, monster filled, 'my-child-is-not-able-to-sleep' stories. This term of endearment could be as a result of growing up in an Irish town filled with ghosts, being able to communicate with (and actually see) the dead or more than likely because his family used to rent him horror movies (pre-Netflix and pre-DVDs) when he was very little which had the affect of twisting his brain to the extent that he was - and still is - afraid of his own shadow.
