About the Author

Mackenzie Feldman is an environmental activist from Honolulu, Hawai'i. She is the Founder and Project Director of Re:wild Your Campus, which empowers the next generation of environmental leaders to create safer, more sustainable living and learning environments for all, by starting locally and advocating for organic land care on their campuses. Mackenzie is also a 2022 Rachel Carson Council Fellow, a Food Research Fellow for Data For Progress, and a Brower Youth Award winner.

Kathy Feldman's quest for plant-based eating began early in life. She became a vegetarian while still in high school after reading about the environmental impacts that meat consumption has on the planet. Later, when she started to learn more about industrial agriculture, including the rise in factory farming, monoculture, and GMO production tied to pesticide usage, she became more passionate about the food system, and the importance of organic farming. In 2016, Kathy and Mackenzie set out on a road trip to visit 10 organic farms in Cuba and 20 organic farms from California to Oregon to learn more about organic farming. They both decided to write a book to share plant-based recipes and highlight some inspiring farms and food systems leaders.
