About this Item

FIRST EDITION. FIRST PRINTING. 12mo. (20 cm.) [8]1-267[1]p. Blue cloth with gilt letters on the front cover and the spine. Has the Appleton (1) at the end of the text. Dora Aydelotte [1878-1968] was born in Altamont, Illinois and lived most of her life in Chicago. She wrote several novels on pioneer life in Illinois and the Midwest. "Becuse of Dora Aydelotte and many, many more women writers of her era, early Oklahoma women's history has been preserved in a natural and unvarnished setting that truly represents Oklahoma history from a woman's point of view. For anyone interested in women's history, I would suggest reading Ms. Aydelotte's fiction based on fact." [from University of Oklahoma Libraries]] ACROSS THE PRAIRIE is set in a town named Kinnewell, in Kansas, just across the border from the Cherokee Strip. Very minor wear to extremities, spine sunned and gilt dulled, cover gilt bright, minor spots on front cover from jacket that was very lightly stuck down, else very good or better/ No jacket.
