Original slate blue cloth with cover design embossed in gilt and black, oblong octavo (6.25 x 9.75 inches), bound with tassled string tie at spine; title page followed by 18 leaves of glossy lithographed views and 20 pages of text. Illustrations printed on rectos only, versos printed with advertisements for local businesses. Minor soiling to covers, else fine; a remarkably well-preserved copy First illustration is a bird's-eye view of Oakland from the south-east, looking across the bay toward San Francisco (from lithograph by Elliott Pub. We had our open bookshop in the town of Sonoma for a total of 17 years, including 9 years at our East Napa St. location, however, as of April 13, 2013 we have closed our doors. Our business is now conducted online, by appointment, and at the approximately 8 antiquarian bookfairs at which we exhibit annually. Chanticleer Books is a sole-proprietorship owned and operated by Steve Blackmer, a full-time bookseller since 1985 and member of the Antiquarian Booksellers¿ Association of America (ABAA) since 1998.

We utilize the $30.00 Priority Mail International flat-rate mailer (4 lbs maximum weight) when we can adequately protect the book within.
