VOLUME XXII, NUMBER 2, APRIL 1877. Single issue of a quarterly periodical published January, April, July, and October. Stitch-bound booklet; H 22.75cm x L 14.5cm. Paged as [4], 65-128 (plus covers) in succession to the preceding January issue. Blue paper covers foxed and soiled with light edgewear, detached front cover has small light stain at center fore-edge, spine paper chipped. Moisture staining at top edges of the two initial unpaged toned leaves of which the first leaf verso features a b/w illustration of the Maryland Institute of the Education of the Deaf and Dumb in Frederick, Maryland with a plan of the main floor on the opposing recto. Pages 92-103 mildly creased at top corners; toning and foxing to rear page as well but with interior text pages fairly clean. Articles are as follows: "The Buildings of the Maryland Institution for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb" by Charles W. Ely (pages 65-72); "The Acquisition of Language" by Charles Strong Perry (pages 72-73); "The National Institution for the Deaf and Dumb at Paris II {presumably Part I was published in the preceding issue} by Maxime du Camp (pages 74-80); "Miss Martineau and Deaf Mutes" by Edmund Booth (pages 80-83); "Church Work Among the Deaf and Dumb" by David Buxton (pages 83-88); "The Necessity of a Training School for Teachers of Deaf Mutes by James H.
