Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card, USA. Gloria Swanson, Antonio Moreno, Gino Corrado, Josef Swickard, Aileen Pringle, dir: Sam Wood; Paramount. Melodrama set in Argentina wrought with duals over the fair Kentuckian aristocrat Natalie Chester (Gloria Swanson) and her romance with Argentine aristocrat Manuel La Tassa (Antonio Moreno). All ends well when they marry and he takes up his government post. Considered a lost film, it seems that the spectacle was Swanson's wardrobe and the introduction and studio build-up of Moreno as the latest "dark Latin type," made popular by Rudolph Valentino. The Paramount cards of the 1922-23 period are always exquisite in their use of collaged imagery and the transition period Art Nouveau/Deco borders. Gino Corrado and Swanson at left observe tango dancers (the woman is Aileen Pringle) in a cafe. There are three left top corner pinholes, and two at the top right. There is one each at the bottom corners and at the bottom center. Otherwise immaculate. ABOUT FINE. Bookseller Inventory #
