Original rigid green cloth slipcase, H 25.25cm x L 17.5cm, with metal beads at each of front and rear cover's four corners, metal clasp present and intact bridging slipcase's open side; mild mottling to front cover board with strong mottling to rear cover board; some mottling along spine too. Interior dark green cloth case has some mottling to boards and spine as well; floral decorated pastedowns applied upside down per the orientation of the front board's stamped title lettering. Enclosed viii, 79 page booklet, H 22.75cm x L 15.5cm, plus 27 plates numbered as 1-7, 7a, 7b, 8-25. Booklet has paper loss at spine ends with quire tips exposed with some separation at ends of both front and rear joints; full length vertical tear to front cover with fore-edge third detached and now laid-in, detached section has 1.5cm loss at bottom edge; chip and creased tear to rear cover's top corner. Booklet features Preface, Introduction, b/w illustrations, Glossary, and Index. Each of the 27 plates contain a transverse, radial, and tangential cross-section of wood specimens with the latter two sections in very good condition throughout but with five of the top transverse sections having the following faults: one short tear to plate #3; slender 2cm tear to plate #7a; vertical lengthwise 4.5cm tear to plate #15; several diagonal tears (going with the grain) to plate #19; and two tears of 3cm and 1.25cm to plate #25.
