8vo. (22 cm.) vii, 288p. Frontispiece plus four other full-page color lithograph plates [Peter Smit el. et lith. Mintern Bros. Chromo.], as well as numerous black and white woodcut images. General Index and Index of Authors' Names. Green cloth with letters in gilt on the front cover and the spine and with a vignette in gilt on the front cover of a snake rising out of the grass with a frog in its mouth. Some wear to extremities with two corners just barely rubbed through, top and bottom of spine beginning to fray, top corner of front cover slightly bumped, cloth very lightly soiled, spine gilt slightly dulled, cover gilt bright, all color plates present and in fine condition, just hints of foxing here and there, gift inscription, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. Frank Evers Beddard [1858-1925] was a prominent British zoologist, winner of the Linnean Medal in 1916 and author of 11 books on zoological subjects. Bookseller Inventory # 007918
