Spine with gilt title, front board with gilt title and gilt and vellum vignette.l This work was first published in 1894 as part of a larger work. This second edition deals with plant taxonomy only, and the paper by Peck is by far the longest, comprising all the plates. It also includes E. C. Howe's, New York species of Carex, and some smaller notes. The 43 fine chromolithographs depict 68 different species of edible, poisonous and "unwholesome" mushrooms. The plain plate gives a general view of mushroom types and anatomy. Apart from some slight discolouring on the cover and some rubbing to the board edges, a fine copy with large margins.
