FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (21 cm.) [11]12-264p. Illustrated with numerous black and white drawings. Heavy weave tan cloth with brown letters on the front cover and the spine. Joshua Dean Simkins [1883-1927] was born in Ohio and spent most of his life teaching in various schools in Ohio. In 1925, Simkins moved to San Diego, California, where he was a member of the San Diego County Board of Education. He published several books, including EARLY HISTORY OF AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OHIO and ANTS AND THE CHILDREN OF THE GARDEN. Simkins retired from teaching in 1927 and his Notebook and Scrapbook are now housed in the Henry E. Huntington Library in San Marino, California. [OCLC].
