Folio. Stiff tan pictorial wrappers. (10pp, rectos only). Very good. Faintest of wear to outer wrappers (only), else fine. Attractive first (likely sole) edition of these handsomely-typeset texts for Lincoln's "First Political Announcement," "House Divided Speech," "Cooper Union Speech," "Farewell Address," "First Inaugural Address," "Gettysburg Address," "The Bixby Letter," "Second Inaugural Address" and a few odds and ends. Laid into a pocket at rear is a printed letter from Lincoln Savings and Loan Association (creator of the Abraham Lincoln Historical Center) and two 8½" X 11" heavy stock black and white prints (head-and-shoulders artist's rendering of famous Brady portrait and inspirational "On Being Discouraged" commentary). This copy bears a fine unusual autograph addition: Tipped to inside front wrappers is a fine folio leaf signed by both Alfred Whital Stern (his usual 7" signature) and David C. Mearns (his usual tight 2" signature. Stern (1881-1960) was a wealthy businessman and Lincoln collector extraordinaire who owned the original of Lincoln's annotated copy of his Lincoln-Douglas debates in newspaper clipping form and in 1953 donated about 7,000 Lincoln items to the Library of Congress -- one of their major Lincoln acquisitions; Mearns (1899-1981) was the noted Chief of the Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress for many years, a well-known Lincoln scholar who edited "The Lincoln Papers" (1948), "Three Presidents and Their Books" (1955) and "Largely Lincoln" (1961), among others.
