About the Book

We're sorry; this specific copy is no longer available. Here are our closest matches for Abraham and Martha Bininger - Folio ALS - 1794.

Description:

2pp folio ALS on large folded lettersheet, small amount of writing on second leaf for address; spiritually significant letter with Christian discussion and admonition. Appears to be from parents to son and daughter in law. Bininger at one time worked with George Whitefield. Dated January 5th, although month is a little difficult to read. At this point Abraham would have been about 74 years old; he lived until 1811. ALS seems to have been written to son John, although ink is faded and unclear on first few lines, with name appearing to have an extra letter. However, ancestry sources do confirm that Abraham and Martha had a son John, and the letter refers to two other sons, Isaac and Joseph, leaving John as one of the remaining songs (the others being Abraham and Christian) to receive the letter. There was also a daughter named Martha. Descendant Mary C. Bininger notes at lower portion of verso of letter that this is her fourth ancestor. Bookseller Inventory #
