Signed by author. minor shelf wear, clean text, rubbing and bumping to edges and corners of cover, few tiny tears on FFEP, front hinge cracking slightly but holding together, maps are still in great shape Maps, illustrations, b&w plates, plastic cover, blue cloth over boards, red-lettered text on cover and spine, decorated front cover w/ picture of covered wagons, beautiful book in custom slipcase, plastic cover over cloth binding. Signed on the FFEP: "To an eternal friend J.C. Shearer, Esq. With compliments of the author, Randall H. Hewitt, Los Angeles, Calif, July 1, 1908. " A wonderful addition to the collector's library, especially with the custom slipcase. "One of the best Oregon Trail narratives. " Howes H457.
