These "acts and laws" are listed in alphabetical order by subject: Abatement ., Age ., Civil Action, Adultery, Alarms, Arrests, Attorneys, & Auditors. Under "Adultery", punishment for the offense is described as follows: "whoever shall commit Adultery with a Married Woman or on Betrothed to another Man, both of them shall be severely Punished, by Whipping on the naked Body, and stigmatized or Burnt on the fore-head with the letter A on a hot Iron" .
