Excerpt from Acts and Resolutions of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia, at a Session in November and December, 1871: Comprising, Also, the Acts and Resolutions Passed at the Session of January, 1872
The laws comprised in this volume are printed from the engrossed ccpies, which to those which pass the two branches of the General Assembly. After their pas lge through the two Houses, they are enrolled, and the enrolled c0pies are those rhich are signed by the Governor, or become law: over his veto, or by the expira ion of the time limited by the Constitution. The enrolled ccpies are those depos ted in the archives of the State in the Seeretary of State's ofiice. The enrolled ind engrossed copies should be counterparts of each other, but sometimes varia iona occur from clerical errors and omissions. These Acts, printed from the en bossed copies. Have been carefully compared with the enrolled ccpies deposited h the ofiice of the Secretary of State, and any material omissions or variations are Med by enclosing the different reading in brackets.
It was thought beat by his Excellency, Governor Slum, on the score of conveni pce and economy, to include the Acts passed at the short session in January, in his compilation, and by his order this has been done.
