About this title

Synopsis:

The South Africa we enjoy today is a testament to the power of prayer and forgiveness, to an underlying national goodwill, to a rare but genuine sense of statesmanship among African leaders led by the late President Mandela and to a never dying hope within the broken national heart for a peaceful and profitable future for South Africa. This mixture of divine and human dynamics enabled the nation to peer over the brink of an irreconcilable disaster and move towards a new democratic dispensation. If that moment is ever lost from the national consciousness, if the unspeakable horrors viewed in that dark hole of humanity are forgotten, then South Africa may yet bleed again. Come along on the journey that led the Vehorn family from the security and comforts of the USA in 1988 to live and to work in a desperate setting in South Africa. Pray that South Africans of all races, colors, ethnic backgrounds and ideologies will never forget how close we came or how quickly we could return to that brink. Author Information... Ronnie Vehorn was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on January 1, 1947. He received a B.A. degree from Clemson University in 1969 and a Master of Divinity degree from Erskine Theological Seminary in 1972. Ronnie pastored churches in Charlotte, North Carolina; Rock Hill, South Carolina; Bennettsville, South Carolina; and Georgetown, South Carolina before moving to the Queenstown area of the Eastern Cape of South Africa in July 1988. Ronnie is married to Janet Townsend Vehorn and resides at Harrison Hope Wine Estate, Whittlesea, South Africa. Ronnie is the author of "The Kafiristan Scrolls" (Quill Press).

Store Description

The books listed on ABE are not always available in our stores. Please do not call our store locations for these items. With 3 stores less than 1 hour outside the DC/Metropolitan area (1 in Gaithersburg, 1 in Frederick and 1 in Hagerstown, MD), we have the largest selection of books in the tri-state area. Wonder Book and Video has been in business since 1980 and online since 1997. We have over 1 Million books for sale on our website and another 1 Million books for sale in our 3 locations. We have a very active online inventory and as such, we can receive multiple orders for the same item. We fill those orders on a first come first serve basis, but will refund promptly any items that are out of stock. Since 1980 it has always been about the books. ALL kinds of books from 95 cent children's paperbacks to five figure rare and collectibles. A merging of the old and new is where we started, and it is where we are today. Our retail stores have always been places where a reader can rush in looking for a title needed for a term paper that is due the next day, or where bibliophiles can get lost "in the stacks" for as long as they wish. In 2002 USAToday recognized us as "1 of 10 Great Old Bookstores", and we have been featured in numerous other newspaper and TV stories including Washington Post and CSpan. Members ABAA, ILAB.
