Lightly worn at the outer hinges and tips of the leather, all gilt bright. William Lambe (1765-1847) himself became a vegetarian around 1806 in response to his own ill health which had begun while he was still a teenager. While practicing medicine, he became convinced of the benefits of the waters at Leamington and turned it into a spa. Lambe proposed treating cancers and certain other ailments by dietetic methods. He recommended the adoption of a strict vegetarian regimen, the avoidance of fermented liquors and the use of water purified by distillation in place of common water. Bookseller Inventory # E4960
