Colonel Ninian Beall was an early settler in Maryland, having previously fought for the Scotch-English army and subsequently fighting Native American Indian tribe of the Susquehannah. Colonel Joseph Belt was a colonel during the French and Indian War and a patentee of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Ainsworth Rand Spofford was the sixth librarian of congress of the United States. The piece on his life, containing work by several authors, also contains a chronological list of his writings. GOOD condition, slightly ex-library, with a bookplate on the inside cover.
