"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain. First edition, first printing, published on 9 June, preceding the first American edition that appeared in mid-December by about six months. Published by Chatto and Windus, Piccadilly, London, 1876. 8vo with 341 pp. Rebound in red cloth. The book is in good plus to very good minus condition. Minor to moderate wear and soiling to the red boards. The spine is sun faded with light soiling. The gilt lettering on the spine is clear and vivid. Some small stains present to the top fore-edge of the textblock but it does not seep into the text. Previous owner's signature in light pencil on the front paste-down. Slight discoloration to the edges of the paste-downs. Previous bookstore's sticker on the rear paste-down. The textblock is largely clean and bright, with some instances of light foxing.
