Original cloth. 348 pp plus a one page note and ads in the rear. With several black and white illustrations. An account of I.R.S. agent James Brooks' investigations into the infamous Whiskey Ring conspiracy, discussing the distillers and distilleries, methods of hiding money, various figures associated with the ring, various trials, etc. FAIR condition. Heavy mottling/scuffing to the cloth of the spine, as well as along the upper and lower extremities. Heavy fading to the cloth. Some soiling. Binding cracked at both interior hinges, with the covers starting to separate. Binding weak but intact, with two signature in the center starting to separate. Minor scattered soiling and moderate darkening to the paper. Date in ink on the first page of text. Bookseller Inventory # 004094
