Danish language. Rebind of the original volume in blue cloth with titles in gilt. 325 pages. Full and partial-page illustrations by Lorenz Frolich throughout. Volvspa Edda illustration, which may have been from the original dust wrapper, trimmed and laid in prior to the title page. Norwegian scholar Rasmus B. Anderson's copy, with his signature to the title page. Norwegian-American collector Herman Gimmestad's bookplate to the front pastedown, otherwise unmarked. Gimmestad acquired a number of Anderson's books when the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where Anderson had donated books in 1930, sold off selected items at a library sale. This volume has a bit of dampstaining to the lower margin of the final 25 pages, acquired before rebinding, as there is no staining to the endpapers or cloth, with no loss of paper or damage to the text. The present binding shows only a hint of wear. Hinges solid; binding square. This is a clean, tight copy with an excellent association, uncommon in the original edition. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Bookseller Inventory #
