A fascinating account of Ailsa Craig, an island in the outer Firth of Clyde. Chapters include a history of visitors to the island, ownership, history, topography, birds, animals plants and rocks, shipwrecks and accidents, the lighthouse and foghorns. This edition includes additional information; List of Plants Collected in July, 1844 by Prof. Balfour; Notes on its Geological Structure by Prof. Hull and Note on the Structure of the Island by Prof. J.G.
