About this title

Synopsis:

FY and AINA, A New World Love Story, is a sequel to the first book in the Norse Trollology Series entitled CROSSING THE ARCTIC, A Norse Troll Story. In that book, Fy, A Norse Fjell Trollet or mountain troll, does cross the Arctic Ocean on foot from the Nordic World to Greenland and the New World in the days when there was more glacial ice. This second book begins with Fy from his mountain cave close to the ocean hearing plaintive cries for help. The story finds Fy struggling with loneliness, performing a water rescue, searching for a soul mate, and grappling with the hardships of living in an untamed New World. It is a look at what can happen if people of two oppposite culture like the Fjell trolls and the Nisse, who are small dwarf-like trolls, have compassion for the other's lifestyle. FY and AINA is a Norse fiction troll story, interspersing factual Nordic and North American geology with a mythological explanation of how the New World became populated with a diversity of people.

About the Author:

Jan Smith, a former teacher, is the author of the troll stories in the Norse Trollology Series. Her cultural background stems from growing up Norsk and working in small Minnesota communities where the population is of Nordic background. She has also written two novels of historical fiction: HOMESTEADING The LAND which is a fictional look at the daily life of a Midwestern homesteading family of five in the year 1890 and its sequel REMEMBERING The MAINE which is the story of young Midwestern men and their involvement with Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders during the Spainish American War in 1898.
