About this Item

Ex-Libraries; "Withdrawn - Smithsonian Institution Libraries"; "Library of Aeronautics Branch, Department of Commerce"; "Library of The Civil Aeronautics Authority"; "Library of Congress Duplicate". Typical stampings and labels. Dewey label on spine over where other Dewey labels were affixed. Considering the 'heritage' and travels of this copy, the book is in decent shape - Rubbed dark blue cloth cover, rubbed spine edges, corners and bottom edge of boards worn, ghost of a sign-out label and small dent on FFEP through to page i, some pages have a small tear on edges. From Preface: 'At the military service schools this subject is one of continuous study and investigation. For several years various assignments have brought the author into close association with officers who were devoting much of their time to a study of the many phases of air warfare. To these he ascribes whatever merit this volume may contain. While the material in this book has been prepared, in large part, from the notes made by the author while an instructor at the Air Service Tactical School and at the Command and General Staff School, they are to be considered as purely personal opinions; and in no sense an official publication.' Ten chapters. Sixteen Illustrations. Contents include: Characteristics of Aircraft, Individual combats and defensive formations, Service of Observation, Pursuit Aviation, Attack Aviation, Bombardment Aviation, Anti-Aircraft Defense, Air Logistics, Naval Aviation. Inventory 02-1896-0401. Bookseller Inventory # 001896
