Inscribed "For Teddy, on Barbara's birthday, with love and admiration for all his accomplishments, Caroline Gordon. The Red House, March 19, 1972." The "Red House" is a well-known early house in Princeton that Caroline Gordon owned after her divorce from Allen Tate.
