My novel is a women s fiction depicting a personified Victorian house built in the late nineteen hundreds The house Alice has the sense and sensibility of a Victorian matron She is accustomed to finery manners and a world when women stayed home and raised children with the help of a nanny when their lives were consumed with gardening the latest fashions and elegant entertaining Having been deserted for years Alice is overcome with shame at her condition She is in need of repairs and refurbishing A young contractor overlooks her disarray and sees her inner beauty She puffs with pride and suffers her renovations Once restored to her robin s egg blue Alice begins to dream of the family who will be moving in but to her dismay her new residents are four women When they move in Alice listens carefully to their conversations and begins to form opinions of each of them The women do not know that the very wooden walls they reside in are the loving arms of a Victorian guardian From Christmas Eve to Christmas Eve events happen relationships are formed problems are faced and emergencies as well as surprises pop up Alice takes it all in stride and offers comments throughout the book She becomes a secondary character in the novel as each woman is introduced and we learn about their history and the issues they face today

About the Author:

Judith Colosi is a retired banker. She has been writing short family memoirs and poems for many years. She belongs to the Red Rock Writers, a writing group that has self-published two anthologies of the members' work. Privately she has written two memoirs for clients. Currently she leads workshops on creative and memoir writing. Judith lives on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
