This is the biography of a great Canadian-American and internationally renowned botanist. In 1892 she became curator of botany at the California Academy of Sciences where she worked until 90 years old. She rescued 1,211 plant type specimens during the 1906 earthquake enabling the building of an herbarium with over 300,000 specimens by 1949.
