About this Item

Sized 4 x 6 inches, filled out in old ink, signed and dated, probably by Scott. The subject, Allen E. Eastlack, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, would go on to military service in Company H, 11th Indiana Infantry, on April 14, 1862, and muster out March 22, 1865. The 11th Indiana was organized at Indianapolis, August 31, 1861, and moved to Paducah, Kentucky, for duty, on September 6, 1861. Most of the service of the 11th was with the Army of the Tennessee, and later the Army of the Shenandoah. Highlights of action include Fort Donelson, the Battle of Shiloh, Corinth, Mitchell's Cross Roads, the Battle of Port Gibson and Battle of Champion's Hill, the siege of Vicksburg, and Jackson, and Sheridan's Shenandoah Valley Campaign.
