About this title

Synopsis:

On May 24, 2014, Twitter exploded with stories of women’s experiences of harassment and assault in their daily lives using the hashtag #YesAllWomen. With the Twitter conversation as inspiration, 10 women came together to share their stories with each other and the world. They dug within themselves to find wisdom...but they also revealed their own inner conflict about their experiences and their views of the world. They were willing to be vulnerable and admit not only how they have been hurt, but also how they have hurt others. Through telling our stories - and hearing the stories of others - we learn that there is much more that unites us than divides us. That is the purpose of this book. To remind you: You are not alone. I hope that you will hear those words repeating in your head as you read this book and realize how true they are: YOU ARE NOT ALONE

About the Author:

Transformational speaker and author Leah Carey has been in the trenches. She spent over two decades struggling with chronic depression, believing that no matter how hard she worked or how much she accomplished, she was never good enough and no one could ever understand. She now shares with audiences the answer that saved her life: sharing our stories helps us to release shame, build community, and increase effectiveness and resilience. She speaks with corporate audiences, college classes, women s groups and other organizations to offer suggestions for today and hope for tomorrow. Leah facilitates workshops that help people to share their stories in a safe and supportive atmosphere, and she is the author of Transforming Your Body Image and You Are Not Alone : Stories from the front lines of womanhood.

Leah is a journalist and has been published in books, magazines, medical journals, and on many internet sites on a variety of self-empowerment and personal development topics. She also speaks frequently at groups and conferences on these subjects. She lives in northern New Hampshire with her parakeet, Cinnamon, and about a bazillion of her favorite books.

Store Description

The books listed on ABE are not always available in our stores. Please do not call our store locations for these items. With 3 stores less than 1 hour outside the DC/Metropolitan area (1 in Gaithersburg, 1 in Frederick and 1 in Hagerstown, MD), we have the largest selection of books in the tri-state area. Wonder Book and Video has been in business since 1980 and online since 1997. We have over 1 Million books for sale on our website and another 1 Million books for sale in our 3 locations. We have a very active online inventory and as such, we can receive multiple orders for the same item. We fill those orders on a first come first serve basis, but will refund promptly any items that are out of stock. Since 1980 it has always been about the books. ALL kinds of books from 95 cent children's paperbacks to five figure rare and collectibles. A merging of the old and new is where we started, and it is where we are today. Our retail stores have always been places where a reader can rush in looking for a title needed for a term paper that is due the next day, or where bibliophiles can get lost "in the stacks" for as long as they wish. In 2002 USAToday recognized us as "1 of 10 Great Old Bookstores", and we have been featured in numerous other newspaper and TV stories including Washington Post and CSpan. Members ABAA, ILAB.
