Written by Shirley Hibberd, or James Shirley Hibberd,a popular and successful gardening writers of the Victorian era. He was a bestselling editor of several gardening magazines and wrote over a dozen books in total. Condition: In a full cloth binding with gilt stamping to the spine and pictorial front board. Externally, generally smart. Slight rubbing to the extremities, joints and to the spine. Rubbing is heavier to the head and tail of spine and joints. Small loss to head and tail of spine as well as to the title on spine above the 'O' from 'Book'. Bumping to the head and tail of spine. Prior owner's signature to the recto of front endpaper and to front pastedown, 'M Grant'. Internally, firmly bound.
