About this Item

#4734 - "Ambroise Pare On Monsters and Marvels " (translated from the French by Professor Janis Pallister) and published by the University of Chicago. Of obvious interest to historians of medicine and biology, this non-fiction account by Pare, a barber/surgeon, around 1510 A.D. who became chief surgeon to both Charles IX and Henri III. His writings were denounced because he chose to write in French instead of Latin. His method of illustrating the weird deformities he encountered are stranger than fiction. Book is in Very Good condition, jacket is protected by mylar covering, though color on spine has sun fading, interior pages are tight and clean. Bookseller Inventory # 004734
