8vo hardcover in deep blue-green cloth decorated and lettered in black and titled in gilt. 370 pp. Patterned endpapers. xvi (adverts) + 370 + cxxxvi (illustrated adverts) + 4 addtional final pages of adverts. Illustrated throughout with full and partial page photographs, some tinted in monochrome colors and two color plates (both of which are actually advertsiments from specif printing processes and companies), one of harbour with lighthouse and another a reproduction of a Western/ Indian scene by Guy Atherton. Included among the some two dozen articles are two by Stieglitz, each illustrated by one of his photographs including "The Glow Of Night" and "Fifth Avenue On A Rainy Night". A tight, fine exmaple (repair to the inner edge of the front free endpaper. A truly spectacular survey of the world of American photography just before the turn of the 20th century; the nearly 200 pages of advertising are as much of interest as the contents.
